Matthew J. Schneider is a creative entrepreneur with over twenty-five years of experience in the arts and entertainment industry. He is a dramaturg and producer who specializes in the development and production of innovative new works.
Matthew co-founded Creative Endeavor Office with Carolyn D. Miller in 2016. As Lead Producer, his productions of the multi-award winning new musical Lizard Boy have been seen in premiere U.S. Regional Theatres, in multiple UK productions, and Off Broadway in New York City. Matthew serves as Lead Producer of Reunion, a franchise of interactive shows which use music, spectacle, humor to unite audiences in a ritual of nostalgia and celebration. CREO is a co-producer of the five-time TONY Award-winning Buena Vista Social Club and has investments in Purple Rain (Broadway 2026).
Matthew's professional practice also includes musical theater dramaturgy and creative consultancy. His dramaturgical contributions to Lizard Boy were honored with 2024 Drama Desk nominations for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score. He served as the associate director of Memphis (National Tour), the dramaturg for five Off-Broadway flops, and the production dramaturg for Allegiance (Broadway). Since 2017, he has served as the Dramaturg for Theatre Calgary's Artistic Director Stafford Arima; since 2022, he has served as Curator & Text Consultant for the Museum of Broadway.
Professional associations include the League of International Producers (UK), National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT), Lincoln Center Theatre’s Director Lab, and the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA). Matthew is an alumnus of New York University and the Commercial Theatre Institute.
